Delight for Bigelow at DGA Awards PDF Print E-mail

Kathryn Bigelow has won the Directors Guild Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for The Hurt Locker, becoming the first female director to do so in the history of the awards. Bigelow beat Quentin Tarantino, Lee Daniels, James Cameron and Jason Reitman to take the prize, and she will no doubt be buoyed by the fact that, since its inception in 1948, the DGA’s pick has differed just six times from the winner of the corresponding Academy Award.

In the Movies for Television /Mini-Series category Ross Katz won with Taking Chance, while Louie Psihoyos triumphed in Documentary with The Cove. Jason Winer’s pilot episode of Modern Family saw him recognised in the Comedy Series category, whilst Norman Jewison was amongst those who were given a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Directors UK would like to congratulate all the winners. For more on the awards, please click here.
