| Miranda, Misfits and much more besides: RTS nominations announced |

The RTS shortlist for the 2009 Programme Awards have been announced, and some of the best television from the last twelve months will be vying for the prizes when the winners are announced on March 16th. In Documentary, The Force, Afghan Star and Wounded areĀ all nominated, whilst A Short Stay in Switzerland, Endgame, Five Minutes of Heaven are all in the running for the best Single Drama. In Science and Natural History, Inside Nature's Giants, The Great Sperm Race, Yellowstone: Winter are all in with a chance of taking home the award, whilst one of 1066 - The Battle for Middle Earth, Garrow's Law and Iran and the West will triumph in the History category. BBC2 sitcom Miranda, a semi-autobiographical sitcom featuring comedienne Miranda Hart, has bagged three nominations for the 2010 RTS Awards. The show will compete in the Scripted Comedy category, Hart has been nominated for Comedy Performance and, along with James Cary and Richard Hurst, for the Writer-Comedy award. Other multi-nominated shows include teen superhero comedy-drama Misfits, which has been recognised in the Drama Series category along with Cast Offs and The Street, and for the Writer-Drama award, where it will go head-to-head with Five Minutes of Heaven and Occupation. Occupation is also up for best Drama Serial, where it will go up against Red Riding and Unforgiven. Directors UK would like to congratulate all those nominated for RTS Awards.
